Cardiac medications work to affect the way the heart functions by treating abnormal conditions by either increasing or decreasing certain myocardial qualities. Understanding the mechanism of action of a cardiac medication will help the nurse choose the proper assessments to perform on a patient. You will learn about common cardiac medications, including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. You will also learn about the desired outcomes, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
